Biniam Girmay blends a sprinter's finish with a puncheur's tolerance for short, steep climbs, so the closing kilometre of a hard race suits him best. Rivals cannot simply wait for the gallop. They attack earlier, on longer ascents, trying to shed him before the line. He stands 1.84 m, rides the road as a one-day Classics specialist, and counts Grand Tour stage victories among his results.
For 2026 he races for NSN Cycling Team, the Israeli squad, after five seasons with Intermarché-Wanty in Belgium. Earlier stops took in Delko Marseille Provence in France and the World Cycling Centre in Switzerland, and he races under Eritrean colours. Late, uphill finishes are still where the puncheur in him shows.
