Rúben Dias has made 169 appearances for Manchester City. That total, built since he arrived in 2020, shows a defender trusted to start almost every week rather than rotated. City use him as a fixed centre-back, and his five goals in that time underline the point: his job is to stop attacks, not join them.
The route to Manchester began at S.L. Benfica, where he played 91 times between 2017 and 2020 and scored nine goals. Portugal caps followed, and he has 74 of them, with three international goals. At 29, Dias is in the peak years for a centre-back, and his current season is 2025/26.
