Ajax began life in Amsterdam on 18 March 1900, and the club's Eredivisie home fixtures now take place at the Johan Cruyff Arena, which holds 55,865. The side answers to de Godenzonen, de Joden, Lucky Ajax and the Lancers, and turns out in a white home kit. Those colours, that city and that ground together shape what a matchday in Amsterdam looks like.
Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax have won the Eredivisie 36 times and the KNVB Cup 20 times, and four European Cup successes sit alongside those domestic returns, with the Europa League and the Cup Winners' Cup also on the roll of honour. Míchel is head coach and Ernst Boekhorst is chairman, while Marc-André ter Stegen is the goalkeeper from the club who appears in the player listings here.
